At GW Power, we believe our responsibility goes beyond powering businesses – we’re dedicated to helping power stronger, healthier communities too. That’s why we’re proud to have donated £2,500 to the HU4 Community Trust, a remarkable charity that’s making a real difference to lives across Hull.
About the HU4 Community Trust
Founded in 2019 by Terry and Dawn Sullivan, the HU4 Community Trust was created to bring people together in the HU4 area of Hull. What began as a small community group has grown into a charity with a mission to tackle social isolation, food insecurity, and the lack of community facilities on the Boothferry Estate and beyond.
Operating from their hub on Sibelius Road, HU4 runs the only dedicated community space on the estate. From this modest building, they deliver an impressive range of services, including:
- A much-needed foodbank, ensuring local families don’t go hungry.
- A warm space during colder months, offering hot food, drinks and winter essentials.
- A community café and library, a lifeline for socialising and support.
- Craft sessions, debt and health advice, community groups.
- Special initiatives like teaching knitting and crochet to make serenity blankets for dementia patients, and running drop-in sessions on the importance of immunisations.
HU4 also operates CC Radio, a digital community radio station giving local people a voice, sharing real stories, and building stronger neighbourhood ties.
Why GW Power is Supporting HU4
As a business proudly based in Hull, GW Power-Safe is passionate about giving back to the area that’s supported our own growth. We understand the pressures so many families are facing right now, from the cost-of-living crisis to rising energy costs. HU4 Community Trust stands out as a beacon of hope – not just by meeting urgent needs like food and warmth, but by building meaningful connections that help tackle loneliness and strengthen the community fabric.
How Our Donation Will Help
The £2,500 donation will help HU4 keep their foodbank stocked, maintain their warm space and café, and continue running the diverse range of programmes that residents rely on – from craft groups to essential health drop-ins.
How You Can Get Involved
We encourage everyone to lend a hand – whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word about HU4’s incredible work. Visit their website or follow them on social media to see how you can help keep these vital services running.
Proud to Power Our Community
At GW Power, we’re committed to supporting initiatives that uplift Hull and its people. We’re honoured to stand alongside the HU4 Community Trust and look forward to finding more ways to help our local community thrive.
